If you have been champing at the bit to put your signature on an initiative to legalize marijuana in Michigan, you will get your chance later this week.

According to reports, the Michigan Comprehensive Cannabis Law Reform Committee, which is supported by a legion of drug reform advocates, will launch their signature collecting campaign on Thursday at the Capitol Building in Lansing.

The group’s proposal aims to legalize a statewide cannabis industry, similar to those currently underway in Colorado and Washington, by making it legal for adults 21 and over to purchase retail weed in the same way they now purchase beer down at the local package store. They will need to collect 253,000 signatures to earn a spot on the ballot in the 2016 election.

Although most of you will not be able to get to Lansing on Thursday to put your name on the petition, you can make contact with the organization to find out how you can sign it at a later date.

Get involved... marijuana will not legalize itself!
