While the Michigan waterways have not yet had a chance to completely thaw, state officials have taken steps to crack down on drunken boating. No longer will this level of buoyant debauchery be tolerated by the police, as reports indicate that the penalties for drinking and operating a recreational vehicle are set to increase later this spring.

Among a flurry of legislation recently signed into law comes a crack down on people who operate watercraft, off-road vehicles and snowmobiles with booze in their system. The previous law, which set the legal limit at 0.1 percent, has since been lowered to match the rules of the state’s roadways – allowing only a BAC of 0.08.

Perhaps now would be a good time for Uber to get into the boating business.
