In hopes of not raising another Ray Rice, a Michigan man recently forced his four-year-old son, Tristan, to stand along a busy street corner holding a sign that read, “I Hit Little Girls.” The punishment was the result of continuous reports from teachers that Tristan was hitting the female students.

“Honestly I just wanted to do what I felt was right for my son.” said Rob Devine. “I want him to know you can’t go out and do these things and expect them to go away unnoticed," he continued, "And expect me not to deal with it.”

However, while Devine believes the sign was a creative way to teach his son a valuable lesson, the boy’s mother is not amused. “I feel degraded for him, I feel sad for him." said Brittany Tweed. "I think it’s sad for a four year old to have to go on one of the busiest intersections holding a sign. Rob has had issues in his life, and no one put him out on the street and made him use a sign.”

Although Devine is now under investigation by Child Protective Services, he says he would not change the way he handled the situation.
