A Michigan man who passed off a bag of dirty socks for marijuana received word earlier last week that he must serve time in prison.

According to reports, Michael Suarez, who was convicted of fraud for bamboozling someone into believing that his dirty laundry was a fat sack of weed, was sentenced on Thursday to at least a year in prison.

It seems that although Suarez didn’t actually go through with the illicit pot deal, he must still serve time in the pokey because it is apparently illegal to say you’re going to sell marijuana and show up to the deal with backpack full of dirty whites. Interestingly, while Suarez is in deep trouble, no one seems to be blaming the buyer who was dumb enough to hand over nearly $3,000 cash without first looking in the bag to make sure he or she was actually purchasing weed.

Nevertheless, Suarez is the only one being held accountable in this dumbass debacle. This fool even told the judge that he would rather do his time in prison rather than the county jail, because he believes being caged with murderers and rapists is his best chance at rehabilitation.

Suarez will be eligible for parole after a year… the maximum penalty in this case was 7.5 years.
