A Michigan man is in the hospital with a hole in his hand and in his heart, after the same stray bullet that nearly left him an amputee killed his dog. Over the weekend, authorities visited a home in Iron Mountain after receiving a 911 call about a potential shooting. When the arrived, they found a 25-year-old man with a bullet wound to the hand and a dead dog.

Although some of the circumstances surrounding this bizarre incident are not clear, the man claims he accidentally shot himself in the hand and the bullet hit his dog when it came out on the other side. Investigators are still reviewing the case, and there is a possibility that charges could be filed.

However, there is speculation the man will sell his story to some talentless hack in the country music business and generate millions of dollars with the latest tune for redneck America: “I Shot My Paw, but My Dog Died.”
