Michigan is bound and determined to legalize marijuana in 2016. Earlier this week, The Associated Press revealed that another group of pot proponents are set to receive approval from the state to launch a campaign aimed at establishing a statewide cannabis industry in a manner similar to Colorado and Washington.

The organization is called the Michigan Cannabis Coalition, and they are expected to begin collecting signatures for an initiative aimed at putting the question of legalization up to the voters in 2016.

This is the third ballot initiative launched in an effort to establish a taxed and regulated cannabis market, which could be enough to confuse citizens and prevent any of them from passing. All of these organizations much collect 252,523 valid signatures within 180 days to have a voice in the presidential election.

But which group should you support?

The Michigan Comprehensive Cannabis Law Reform Initiative Committee, which is made up of state marijuana activists, is one of the more highly publicized initiatives… but it remains uncertain whether they have the financial backing to be successful. This initiative, however, is probably the better choice.

The Michigan Responsibility Council apparently has the funds to run a successful campaign, but they want to set up a cartel-like monopoly similar to what is currently being suggested in Ohio. This is not a good plan because it goes against the philosophies of free trade.

The Michigan Cannabis Coalition is primary focused on sending their agenda through to the legislature. Considering what lawmakers have done in regards to medical marijuana, we’re not entirely sure this initiative is the best bet.
