In life, it is best not to express contempt for the lifestyle of others, while secretly relishing in the same actions. This is what a Michigan pastor is learning the hard way after being caught searching for sex on a gay website, while at the same time publically condemning the gay and lesbian community.

According to reports, Reverend Matthew Makala has resigned from St. John’s Lutheran Church after it was revealed that he had been posting shirtless photos to Grindr in search of males to “mess around” with. Interestingly, such a frisky indiscretion by a man of God may have not been such a major issue had Makala, who is married with several children, wouldn’t have taken such a firm stance against homosexual relations.

“A sexual attraction to the same sex is a sinful temptation to be resisted and overcome by God’s grace and power, just as a temptation to steal or lie or overeat must be resisted and overcome by replacement with working hard, telling the truth and moderation in appetite,” Makala wrote in an op-ed piece entitled “A Stand for the Truth.

What’s funny is St. Johns church has demanded that their parishioners avoid reading any of the media attention focused on Makala. In fact, a letter published to the church’s website states:

“This changes nothing. Matt is still forgiven and he is still loved, and we will do what we can to stand by him and the family as they face this spiteful attack of shame,” reads the letter. “God is bigger than this and will see us through.”

Perhaps ole Matt should have thought it through a bit more carefully before he called homosexuals “sinful” and then turned around and told another man that he enjoys giving oral.
