Always, always, always make sure you hang up the phone before you start trash talking the person you want to interview.

Well, today is election day and reporters are all over the place trying to get their stories. This reporter from Bad Axe, Brenda Battel, tried to reach out to Senate candidate John James to set up a post-election interview. The problem is, she didn't hang up the phone after leaving a request for the interview. Instead, you hear her say a few extra words.

She didn't say much, but the words she did use prove she is not a fan of John James. Battel, who works for the Huron Daily Tribune, was later fired after the message was released. The editor of the publication released this statement:

I have listened to the voicemail left by Brenda Battel to Mr. James' campaign, and find no reason to defend this behavior, Brenda Battel's employment has been immediately terminated. The Huron Daily Tribune sincerely apologizes to Mr. James and to the public. These statements do not represent the views of the Tribune as a whole, nor do they reflect the actions of a responsible journalist.

Has anyone else ever been fired or caused a ruckus for accidentally not hanging up the phone? I know I have come close. Let me know in the comments.
