First off let me say this particular woman's experience with eyebrow microblading does not reflect everyone's outcome with the procedure. I know many girls that have had this done, without this particular result. That being said, one Michigan woman is sharing her particular experience with eyebrow microblading.

Some of you may be asking WTF is microblading? I know it involves little incisions to the eyebrow, but that's about it. Wikipedia gives the following definition:

Microblading is a semi-permanent makeup procedure whereby hair like incision strokes are created along the eyebrow to attempt to either enhance, reshape or create a natural looking appearance on the brows. The procedure entails the use of a nanoblade, which is dipped into a pigment that has been matched to natural hair colour and skin tone and is then glided along a sketched outline of the brow that has been drawn on and scrutinized beforehand. Whilst only penetrating up to 1mm into the skin, the pigment is deposited simultaneously with the creation of the hair like stroke leaving a feathered outline which will further be filled in the same manner.

'Jennifer' is the Michigan woman who shared her experience with CNN. A few days after the procedure she noticed lumps under her eyebrows along with a lot of redness. Once the pain really set in, she went to urgent care where she was diagnosed with cellulitis. Ugh. Jennifer then spent three days in the hospital. Microblading typically costs $700 to $800 according to WNEM. Jennifer paid $250 - that seems sketchy already.

I feel the need to say again - this is Jennifer's story. This does not happen to everyone, there are many reputable microblading establishments. I myself have never had this procedure done. I did wax my entire left eyebrow off before, but that is a completely different story.
