Bad news for the majority of our listening audience as an appeals court in Mount Pleasant ruled that medical marijuana dispensaries are illegal. What does this mean for the dispensaries in Flint?

This is the first ruling on the legality of dispensaries since medical marijuana was made legal in 2008. Since then many have been forced to operate within the gray area due to a lack of specificity in the law.

Now it appears that an appeals court in Mount Pleasant has set a precedent on the issue of dispensaries, one that many will not be happy with.

Mlive reports that the court ruled that the Mount Pleasant dispensary, Compassionate Apothecary, was operating illegally because the law does not allow patient to patient marijuana sales.

This ruling could possibly give courts and law enforcement the green-light to close down all dispensaries in the state.

The decision is expected to be appealed to the Michigan Supreme Court, but chances of the conservative majority overturning the decision are unlikely.
