I'm still going my friends.  I'm not going to lie, a lot of the time I feel like I bit off more than I can chew.  However, the support I'm receiving along the way is awesome.  I started a over a month ago as a pack a day smoker and over all slob.  Now, I'm starting to make progress.

When I first started training, I could barely run half a mile without feeling like complete death.  Now, I'm starting to build up some stamina.  Thursday night, I ran in the DiploDash 5K at the downtown Flint YMCA.  This marks the first time ever that I completed a race without stopping along the way.  My official time for the 5K (3.1 mile) race was 31 minutes and 20 seconds and finished 137 out of 332.

The Saturday before was a little slower at Kegs N K's though.  A 4K race in 36 minutes and 56 seconds.  However, we were given beer at the beginning, middle, and end of the race so we were in no hurry.  Can you blame us?

As the summer goes on, I will be in quite a few more races, including the Crim 10 mile.  Why, you ask?  My goal this summer is to raise $1,000 for the American Heart Association by completing the "Iron Warrior Dash," which is a 15.6 mile race with 24+ obstacles along the way.

I've had quite a few people jump on board and donate, as well as sponsor me.  Big thanks to Bauman's Running Shop for setting me up with some running equipment.  Also, Buddha's Bar & Grill in Fenton for covering my Warrior Dash entry fee. Starting next week, I will be receiving training from Hurley Health & Fitness for obstacles in the race.

If you would like to donate or sponsor some of my races this year, please email me at chris@banana1015.com or follow the link below.  Thanks again!
