My Chemical Romance Members Headed For Side-Projects

My Chemical Romance may be splitting off into separate side projects according to their guitarist Frank Iero.

After their recent drummer shake-up, things have probably been better in the My Chemical Romance camp. Guitarist Frank Iero, who already plays in another band called Leatherheads, recently told KERRANG! that he believes his bandmates will also be headed for other projects soon:

“I can see the other guys branching off and doing other things. Gerard [Way, vocalist] has his writing, and he has plans for that, but he wants to direct too. And Ray [Toro, guitarist] is such an incredible talent. I’d love to see him get the credit he’s due. I can see us branching off, but always coming back to this.”

Fans fearful of a permanent split shouldn’t worry, Iero further emphasized that the band has full intentions of moving forward soon:

“We’re being very creative right now. There are some really bright and creative things going on. At every soundcheck, we’re coming up with new pieces of music that could turn into something incredible. So we’re hoping to get into the studio soon and really harness that.”

Before the members of My Chemical Romance can pursue outside ventures, they still have a few opening dates left on the Honda Civic Tour with Blink-182:

09/30 – Phoenix, AZ @ Tempe Beach Park Amphitheatre
10/01 – Anaheim, CA @ Honda Center
10/02 – Sacramento, CA @ Sleep Train Amphitheatre
10/05 – Mountain View, CA @ Shoreline Amphitheatre
10/06 – Chula Vista, CA @ Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre
10/07 – Las Vegas, NV @ Red Rock Resort, Spa & Casino
10/08 – Los Angeles, CA @ Hollywood Bowl
10/28 – New Orleans, LA @ VOODOO Music Experience 2011
