I had literally the best vacation of all time in sunny California! I flew into San Fransisco last Friday, and flew home from LA last night, just in time to hit the Machine Shop! I learned some crazy things while in "The Golden State"!

1.) Motorcyclists must wear helmets, but it's totally legal for them to drive in between cars in lanes even on the expressway! I couldn't believe this, and every single time it happened it blew me away, because it felt like they were setting themselves up to get ran-over! They go so fast, that I couldn't even snap a picture. It's like you must wear a helmet, but you can legally do things way more dangerous. It makes a little sense though because the traffic out there...

Craziness.

2.) Omg, the traffic. The damned traffic. Horrible. I learned that in the Los Angeles area you can't take anything the GPS says for a fact. You can be traveling 36 miles and it could take anywhere from 25 minutes because people say EFF the speed limit and change lanes whenever they want, or it could take two hours because you are almost at a stand still on the expressway. It just depends on the time of day, so pack a lunch if you're on the 101. Speaking of lunch...

3.) There is soooo much culture there which means AMAZING grub! Food is one of my favorite things in the world and I ate the best Ramen Noodles ever while out there. Not the crappy cheap Wal-Mart noodles, real Asian noodles, authentically prepared and it blew me away. Everything costs more but I didn't mind because it was delicious. The drinks on the other hand...

4.) The drinks are SO overpriced! I paid anywhere from 7-15 dollars for drinks that would only run me anywhere from $4.75 to $8 TOPS at The Shop. It really killed me because as a bartender I know really what these people are making for the bar and for tips, and I could retire here in the Mitten in like five years if I made that much money working at a bar. You know I still got hammered, because when in Rome...and because I didn't have to drive!

We can all drink because no one has to drive!

5.) No one really has to drive actually. The public transportation out there is so amazing and safe and timely. It's no big deal to get into Uber after Uber and spend a few bucks being safe partying with all of your pals rather than trying to be slick and drive hammered (which I NEVER endorse). I am so much more likely to use the Uber service we have available here in Flint, now that I understand how it works.

It was the best vacation I've ever had, and I'm so happy and thankful for it. All good things must come to an end, so at least I'm lucky enough to come back home to a place where rock music is KING and my party pals love me. Here are a few extra pictures of my experiences. OH YEAH!!! I also won TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS on my layover in Minnesota so THAT means one thing....more drinks! Cheers, and it's great to be back. A <3
