Social media has fueled more than just a handful of rock feuds over the years as musicians have traded terse barbs over Twitter or got into it in comments section on Facebook. Motley Crue / Sixx: A.M. bassist Nikki Sixx has stirred things up on social media a number of times, but now he's made the decision to leave both Twitter and Facebook to "get back to what's real."

With his Twitter account now inactive, Sixx's Facebook farewell reads (seen below), "Goodbye Facebook... I wanna get back to what's real. Writing music, lyrics, books, photography, etc., etc." The iconic bass player hasn't gone dark completely, adding, "If ya wanna follow me, I post photos on Instagram... Otherwise see you live next time I go on tour... Much love..."

Sixx is a passionate photographer and has close to 4,000 posts on his "nikkisixxpixx" account, showcasing his skills. The page is similar to Lamb of God's Randy Blythe, who strictly uses his Instagram to share photos he's taken, often with deep and thought-provoking captions.

One of the rocker's most recent social media feuds came after KISS bassist Gene Simmons commented on Prince's death, calling it "pathetic that he killed himself" before a cause of death was even reported. Sixx took aim at Simmons, stating of the KISS rocker, "Recent heartless and uneducated remarks about Prince’s death shows why he’s not my hero anymore or anybody’s."

It's been a busy year for Sixx with the release of two new Sixx: A.M. album's, Prayers for the Damned, Vol. 1 and Prayers for the Blessed, Vol. 2. Both records breached the Top 50 on the Billboard 200, hitting No. 19 and No. 37 respectively.
