A liberty activist group known as "Hell's Saints" hit Flint's streets while carrying rifles and handguns to remind people of their "right to protect themselves."

Gun rights have been a hot topic issue in America for, well, as long as I can remember. Lately the conversation seems to be more volatile than ever, especially in Michigan. There have been a few recent incidents where citizens legally carrying firearms raised a stink after police stopped them from entering public school property. There is also a pending Michigan law that would close that open carry loophole, but allow CPL (Concealed Pistol License) holders with extra training to carry a concealed pistol on school property. And, as always, there's the crowd foaming at the mouth claiming that "that damn O-Bam-Uh's tryin' to take our guns!" (despite pretty underwhelming evidence to support such claims) duking it out in comment threads all across the internets with the wieners that think the answer is getting rid of guns altogether. Actually, if you got here via Facebook, you can probably navigate back to our page and see a pretty intense example of that right now. #Merica.

Yesterday (3/22/15), Hell's Saints, a liberty activist group, marched along Pierson Rd. in Flint to show their support for open carry laws and with hopes of "educating people that they have the freedom, the liberty and the right to protect themselves if they want to," as Hell Saints President James Baker put it. He added, "Not necessarily by carrying rifles through the street like we are, but carrying rifles through the street is a good way to get those conversations started so people can learn more about what is right for them."

The Hell's Saints were well within their legal rights, but probably scared the hell out of those that didn't know what was going on. What do you think -- Should there be more of these rallies to support and educate people about gun rights or is this just making more trouble and panic than is necessary?

Editor's Note: In the initial version of this article, the weapons being carried were incorrectly identified as "assault rifles."
