Over 34,000 Michigan Residents Sign Petition to Ban Fireworks
Michigan residents don't have a problem with the really huge firework displays like the ones that cities all over the state do. According to ABC12, they want to stop the sale of commercial-grade fireworks to private citizens, saying they put people, pets, and property in danger.
Over 34,00 people have signed the petition at moveon.org which states that since the legalization of fireworks in Michigan in 2011 there has been a drastic increase in the amount and violence of private fireworks displays all over the state, thereby endangering people, pets, and property. They say is not worth the additional revenue to the state.
I would be so bummed if fireworks were banned in Michigan again. I love getting fireworks and doing my own display on my own property. If they were made illegal, people would just get in their cars and drive to Ohio to get them like they used to do prior to 2011.
