Pastor Reacts to Slipknot, Ghost + More
Roughly two months ago a YouTube channel titled BigKat TV began uploading videos of a pastor reacting to various rock and metal songs. The selections range from Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath to Slipknot and Ghost. The reactions are nearly all thematically based; rarely does the pastor, named Andy, comment on the sonics of the music.
Speaking on Slipknot's "The Devil in I," Pastor Andy said, "This is my first time hearing the music, so I'm trying to figure out what's happening in the song. I think I've got it, and if I don't [Big] Kat will call me out. So, this, to me, speaks to a pattern of wrongs that one person in a relationship has done to the other - or perhaps it's a new relationship. And basically [the] idea that if you really saw what was going on inside of me internally, you would see that not only am I in a fight externally with you, but I'm also in the middle of a fight with myself represented by the dark side of me; the evil side; the devil."
In a separate video Pastor Andy reacts to Ghost's "Square Hammer," where he describes it as having "A lot of different influences." Speaking on the effects of demonic interactions and practices outside of the song itself, he added, "Some of the music that we've reviewed like Avenged Sevenfold is open to interpretation. But this type of stuff can definitely set you on the path to some potentially damaging things in your life."
You can watch the aforementioned Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath clips, along with Avenged Sevenfold, Disturbed and Three Days Grace, below. It is worth noting that in the Avenged Sevenfold clip Pastor Andy clarifies that his purpose in these videos is to not impose his world views on anyone, but rather to simply react and create a dialogue.
