Phoenix, Arizona was engulfed by a massive dust storm yesterday (July 5th, 2011,) grounding flights and causing residents to lose power. According to HuffPost Green, the massive dust storm, also known as a haboob, swallowed parts of Phoenix after making its way from Tucson. Find out more about this massive storm after the jump.

HuffPost Green said that the storm was as high as 8,000 to 10,000 feet in the sky, causing the FAA to ground all flights in Phoenix for up to an hour and a half, it also caused up to 10,000 people to lose their power. The dust storm is part of Arizona's monsoon season, if you ask me, I would like to experience one of these natural wonders myself. Check out the amateur video footage below:
