Tomorrrow (Aug. 26) will see the release of The Party’s Over, the debut EP by Prophets of Rage. Today, they premiered the title track at Apple Music, and it can be streamed below.

“The Party’s Over” is one of two studio recordings and the lone new composition from the EP by the supergroup comprised of the rhythm section of Rage Against the Machine, Chuck D of Public Enemy and B-Real of Cypress Hill. The other tracks are a studio take on Public Enemy’s “Prophets of Rage” and live versions of another Public Enemy song, “Shut ‘Em Down,” Rage Against the Machine’s “Killing in the Name” and “No Sleep Till Cleveland,” a reworking of the Beastie Boys’ “No Sleep Till Brooklyn.” The live cuts were recorded last month during the band’s concert at the Agora Theatre and Ballroom in Cleveland as the Republican National Convention was taking place.

The song begins with guitarist Tom Morello riffing over a stomping Brad Wilk beat. It settles into a funky, Rage-like groove soon enough, and B-Real takes the lead on the first verse with Chuck D joining in for emphasis on some lines and the chorus. They switch roles for the second verse.

Yesterday, Dave Grohl sat in with the group in Toronto for a cover of the MC5’s “Kick Out the Jams.” The next stop on their “Make America Rage Again” tour is tomorrow night at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, N.J., and continues across North America through Oct. 15. A portion of the proceeds from every show will be donated to local charities that help the homeless and the hungry. You can get complete information at Prophets of Rage’s website.
