Rock on the Range in Columbus, Ohio is an awesome festival...in a state that many Michiganders can't stand. Mostly for the sports rivalry and partially for the stupid speed limit issues (my reasoning), Ohio is the butt of many jokes and reason for upset on a regular basis here in "The Mitten". RHCP drummer Chad Smith won the day and got booed at the same time, once the Ohio crowd noticed what was on his drum kit.

In the first video you can really hear the audience response to the University of Michigan Wolverines bass drum head that Smith rocked for their headlining performance. You can also hear front man Anthony Kedis pushing even further by saying stuff like "you get to snuggle with a Wolverine tonight" and “No no, it’s like a pet, furry, cuddly, all up in your [junk], that’s what Chad is. He’s like one of those pillows you get to hump. A Wolverine pillow that you can hump tonight, with your Buckeye ass.”

In the second video you can get a better glimpse at the drum kit.

Considering a ton of the people at ROTR were from Michigan anyway, I'm sure The Peppers made a few friends, not just enemies. After cancelling a couple shows due to Kedis having some health concerns, this is a helluva way to make a comeback!
