Rebecca Chambers and Billy Coen will team up once again to survive Umbrella's undead horrors in an HD remaster of Resident Evil Zero.

Capcom has officially announced that an HD remaster of Resident Evil Zero is in the works. The company made this announcement in a video (provided above) which features an introduction by Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, the producer of the Resident Evil HD remaster. He mentioned that Resident Evil HD has been enjoyed by over one million fans and was a big success. Hirabayashi then introduced director Koji Oda and producer Tsukasa Takenaka, who revealed that they are working on Resident Evil Zero's HD remaster. Oda directed this Resident Evil prequel, which made its GameCube debut 13 years ago and was built using the engine of the 2002 RE remake.

For those unfamiliar with RE Zero, it tells the story of Raccoon City PD's Special Tactics and Rescue Service (STARS) member Rebecca Chambers. The intro cutscene to the first Resident Evil game revealed that the helicopter of STARS' Bravo Team crashed while investigating a series of murders in Raccoon City's Arklay Mountain region. This triggered the deployment of Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine's Alpha Team to find them, which lead up to the Spencer Mansion incident. In RE Zero, you play as Bravo Team medic Rebecca Chambers as we find out what happened to her after the crash and how she ended up bumping into Chris Redfield during the events of RE1. As you would expect, Rebecca's journey is filled with zombies and many of Umbrella's deadly bio-organic weapons.

The HD remaster of Resident Evil Zero will launch in early 2016 for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. We expect that Capcom will probably reveal a trailer for the revival soon, likely at E3 2015 next month.
