Pearl Jam Producer Rick Parashar Dies at 50

Rick Parashar

Rick Parashar, who produced Pearl Jam‘s ‘Ten’ and other notable albums, has passed away at the age of 50. Northwest Music Scene reports that Parashar died Thursday afternoon (Aug. 14) of natural causes stemming from a pulmonary embolism during which a blood clot moved from his leg to his heart.

In addition to producing Pearl Jam’s seminal debut disc ‘Ten,’ Parashar manned the knobs for such works as Temple of the Dog’s self-titled effort, Alice in Chains’ ‘Sap’ EP and Blind Melon’s self-titled album. Parashar even played multiple instruments on the Pearl Jam tracks ‘Black’ and ‘Jeremy,’ as well as a few Temple of the Dog songs.

In the 2000s, he produced Nickelback’s mega-selling ‘Silver Side Up’ disc and 3 Doors Down’s ‘Away From the Sun’ album, among other releases.

Rick and his brother Raj founded Seattle’s London Bridge Studio, which became a central location for the burgeoning grunge movement in the early ’90s.

We’d like to offer our condolences to Rick Parashar’s friends and family.
