Rob Zombie is continuing to expand his filmmaking resume. The musician, along with Cold Iron Pictures’ Miranda Bailey, has acquired the rights to a memoir about the late legendary comedic actor Groucho Marx. The book is by Steven Stoliar and is called Raised Eyebrows: My Years Inside Groucho’s House. Deadline is reporting that Zombie will direct, co-produce and co-write the screen adaptation of the movie.

While some may be surprised by Zombie’s choice in directing this film, it turns out that he is a big fan of the legendary comedian. “I have been a huge Groucho Marx fan ever since I was a child and have read countless book on the comic legend, but after reading the book Raised Eyebrows, a totally new perspective on Groucho’s life emerged,” said Zombie. “I immediately saw this project as Groucho’s Sunset Boulevard and knew I had to bring it to the big screen. It is a sad, funny and very dark tale of a one of Hollywood’s greatest stars final years.”

The memoir is about the last few years of Marx’s life, from the perspective of a young fan who is hired to be a personal assistant to the Marx Brothers. On his Facebook page, Zombie simply wrote “my next film” and linked to the Deadline article. He also changed his cover photo to a picture of Marx.

Zombie will share screenplay co-writing duties with Love & Mercy writer Oren Moverman. Baily and Amanda Marshall of Cold Iron Pictures and Andy Gould will co-produce the film with Zombie. No shooting schedule or perspective release date has been announced for the upcoming film.

While Zombie has the Marx movie on deck, his latest film is 31. The musician began filming the flick in March and it's a horror movie set on Halloween night in 1975. Malcolm McDowell stars in the movie and Zombie shared a first look at the actor in character over on his Facebook page this week. Check out the post below. 31 is set to come out sometime next year.

Next weekend, Rob Zombie will co-headline the Loudwire Music Festival, closing out the three day extravaganza on June 28 in Grand Junction, Colo. See the full lineup and get ticket info here.

Here is your first look at Malcolm McDowell from my next film 31. Malcolm plays Father Napoleon-Horatio-Silas Murder the mastermind behind the most dangerous game alive 31.
