I had no idea that you could actually drown after swimming or possible even after taking a bath. This is something that is more likely to happen to a child because of their smaller and weaker lungs but it can happen with adults as well.

I know you're probably thinking, how in the world is this even possible?

According to Dr. Ben Allan from St. Mary's Women and Family Care in Barboursville in West Virginia, secondary drowning is a situation that happens when a person, often times a child, takes on water."  "They may gasp or cough while they're swimming or in the bathtub." He says this can cause inflammation and more fluid to come into the lungs. This can cause problems with oxygenating the blood stream, and sometimes, the symptoms don't show up right away. In fact, he says it may happen hours and even days after the child was swimming.

This type of drowning is obviously pretty rare but it does happen.
