Shiawassee County Sheriff Uses Daughters Death to Fight Drug Addiction [VIDEO]

As heartbreaking as it must be to lose a child, this sheriff is using his tragedy to help inform the public on the extreme dangers of the drug addiction epidemic sweeping Michigan. 

Sgt. Douglas Chapman has gone through the unthinkable, losing his daughter to a heroin overdose over a week ago, but he is using this tragedy for good. Meghan Reid may have been his step-daughter, but that hyphen meant nothing to him when it came to the love he had for her. After finding out that Reid and her boyfriend were using heroin, he tried everything he could to help her. One day she told him she was ready to get help, but unfortunately that help wouldn't come soon enough. When he got the call, he instantly knew she had passed, according to ABC 12.
