Shinedown quickly became one of the biggest rock bands on the planet after the release of their last record, 2008's 'Sound of Madness'. The band announced on Twitter that they will be entering the studio next month to record the follow-up to the hit platinum album.

Shinedown fans have been anxious to see the band out on the road this summer, several questions in regards to their touring plans prompted singer Brent Smith to issue a multi-part statement via his Twitter page:

"A lot of people are asking when is Shinedown going to be touring again, and also when is the new album going to be released, so I am hear (sic) to tell you we are entering the studio on August 15 to start recording the new album. We never put time limits on the writing of songs nor the recording of them because we are quite frankly perfectionist and it takes time.

With that being said, we have decided to not book any shows for the remainder of the year to concentrate all our attention on the making of the new record. Our goal is to be touring again by late February of next year 2012. We will most likely start in the U.K. and Europe and work our way back to the States, and other wonderful countries will follow…Again, none of this aside from the start date for recording is set in stone, but I hope this sheds some light on the situation… no pun intended."

The band has made mention of working on the new album previously, here is a video of guitarist Zach Myers talking about the project.
