On Air
Nights with Fantone
Whaddup! I’m Matt Fantone and I’m the new night guy at the Banana. I don’t have a favorite color or anything like that so I’ll spare you the stupid stuff. Seeing that I’m the leading expert on myself, I’d figure that writing a bio would be a little easier. So I might as well start at the beginning. I was born and raised outside of Cleveland, Ohio (Don’t worry, I HATE Ohio State). Even out of the womb I was setting records, I was the longest baby on record at the hospital I was delivered in(24.5 inches). During my school years I excelled at not living up to my potential. After high school I was off to Bowling Green State University and 274 cases of Natty Light later, I was back home.
My broadcasting career started at the Ohio Center for Broadcasting, where I interned at a country and right wing talk/news station . Next thing I know, I was on a bus out to Fresno, California to work for a station called Sexy 106.3(WTF?). Good times no doubt but you can only get paid in beer and burritos for so long. After Fresno, I started my first tenure in Flint at Club 93.7. Working with Clay and Club crew was an experience that allowed me to develop into the personality I am today. I moved from Flint to Detroit to work at a new station in the D, shortly after, Tony came calling about the Banana. Working in rock radio is something I’ve been looking forward to my whole career and I can’t wait to offend you.
Personally, I’m a pretty laid back guy. My family and girlfriend are unbelievable and I owe a lot of my success to them. I love good music of any genre, partying, and I genuinely enjoy living. The first thing people say when they met me is “How tall are you?”(6’7”) and the second is “Damn you look like Quentin Tarintino!”(I know). I’m pretty much an open book, so if there is anything you wanna know, ask. I facebook and tweet my ass off so get at me on the world wide web.
