In November, Corey Taylor confirmed that Slipknot would enter the studio in January to work on their successor to 2014's .5: The Gray Chapter. A lot can change in the span of two months, so it's reassuring to know that this promise has held true as the singer shared a photo update from the sessions.

"Guess what we're doin....?," wrote Taylor, who is pictured in front of a wall of studio equipment in a recent Instagram post. The last update we got from the singer was at the same time when he mentioned the January studio sessions, confirming the record will be out in the "middle of 2019."

As for what fans can expect from the new music beyond the surprise Halloween single "All Out Life," Shawn "Clown" Crahan told Billboard, "[The album] breaks down to... good vs. evil, or in this sense, evil vs. good. It's about being a human being and experiencing what you have in correlating it to this world. This world is ugly and it's supposed to be, and it has to be in order for art to lead to grandness and beauty."

He added, "Nothing is in stone. There are songs that are considered the album, but everything can change. We would never go do (concert) dates without an album, but...we're not following any rules this time, not that we ever did. We're on an outline, and I think everybody's going to be pleasantly surprised."
