Los Angeles rockers Smile Empty Soul have recently inked a new record deal and have announced that they will release ’3′s,’ their fifth studio album, this May.

After working with World Fire Brigade, which featured Fuel vocalist Brett Scallions and ex-Shinedown bassist Brad Stewart, Sean Danielson is back fronting Smile Empty Soul on their new album ’3′s.’ The band’s last release was 2009′s ‘Consciousness’ and featured the single ‘Don’t Ever Leave Me Alone.’

The band, which previously had hits with tracks like ‘Bottom of a Bottle’ and ‘Silhouettes,’ have also had a share of label-related issues — after the group’s 2003 debut was certified Gold, their sophomore release ‘Anxiety’ was shelved for over three years due to label complications. So it comes as no surprise that Smile Empty Soul are excited to have inked a new deal with eOne Music.

“We are very excited to be working with eOne on this record,” explains Danielsen. “They’re a label that truly backs their artists, and that’s exactly what we need. ’3′s’ is the best record we’ve made. It’s more musical and mature, yet still has the ‘Smile’ sound that our fans are looking for.”

The new album ’3′s’ is set to be released on May 22 and the band will embark on a supporting tour, with dates to be announced later in the year.
