It’s been a long time coming, but Soundgarden fans finally have a date they can point to for a new record: The group’s as-yet-untitled reunion album is due for release on November 13.

The news comes courtesy of the latest issue of Rolling Stone magazine, which lists the release date along with a few quotes from guitarist Kim Thayil, who shared a few details regarding the band’s first collection of new recordings since 1996′s platinum-certified ‘Down on the Upside.’ Promised Thayil, “It re-establishes that we still rock, we’re still heavy, and we’re still a little weird.”

Thayil went on to discuss a handful of songs from the new disc, including ‘Blood on the Valley Floor’ and ‘A Thousand Days Before,’ describing the latter track as “a little Indian thing and some chicken-pickin’. We call it ‘country and eastern.’”

The new record, which has already spun off the No. 1 rock hit ‘Live to Rise’ from the ‘Avengers’ soundtrack, has been in the works since Soundgarden ended its nearly 15-year hiatus in 2010. Earlier reports had indicated plans for an October release, but with singer Chris Cornell planning his own new solo disc in the same timeframe, perhaps a scheduling shift was necessary.

Solo career notwithstanding, Cornell sounds enthused about the new music. As the NME reports, Cornell has promised that the new material picks up where Soundgarden left off, with “a lot of feels” and “very diverse” arrangements. “I’m looking forward to putting out a whole album, where you get a collection of songs,” he explained. “We’re an album-orientated band, so I look forward to getting into long-form listening. That seems to have disappeared over the last 10 years, people seem to now be more into one song at a time.”
