The holiday weekend is upon us and there are parties everywhere. That doesn't mean you need to be stupid about it though. Starting Friday and running through Monday night, the Michigan State police will be stepping up patrols to help keep the roads safe.

State Police continue to participate in the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign as well as the Operation Combined Accident Reduction Effort. The goal of the upped patrols is to try and combat traffic crashes during the 4th of July weekend.

State Patrolmen will be on the lookout for dangerous drivers and those not wearing seat belts. So have a blast this weekend but don't get stupid and drive drunk!
