Update: Stone Temple Pilots have issued a press release confirming the singer search mentioned below. The information is now officially posted on the band's website.

Two months after mourning the death of their original singer, Scott Weiland, and three months after the announcing the departure of their most recent singer, Chester Bennington, it appears that Stone Temple Pilots are set to resume their search for a new vocalist.

While the splash page of STP's official website says "Launching Soon," Alternative Nation loaded up the link to the band's news page, and found a message from STP announcing an open search for a new singer, along with the unlisted YouTube clip above. The rock world has already seen fans get molded into rock stars before when Tim 'Ripper' Owens became the singer for Judas Priest and Arnel Pineda was selected to sing for Journey after Neal Schon saw videos of him on YouTube. Now, perhaps it's your turn. See the message from Stone Temple Pilots below:

2016 marks a new year for Stone Temple Pilots ... A year of hope, optimism, and most importantly, new music! We are immensely proud of all that we have been able to share with you over the years. Music, music, music. We very much want to continue doing that, but that’s going to take a little help from all of you.
As you know, prior to the untimely passing of our brother in arms, Scott, we had been working with the incomparable Chester Bennington. What you also likely know is that having Chester front two bands of this size and scope was too much for one man to be able to do and so regretfully we had to move onto a new chapter together. This is where you come in…
We are officially announcing that we are seeking a new vocalist to front Stone Temple Pilots. We’ve already heard from many talented people, but want to make this an opportunity for many more so we’ve set up a way for you to do just that.
If you think you have what it takes to front this band, record with this band, and tour with this band, we would dig hearing from you. No one will ever “replace” Scott, that was never the intent. The intent is for Stone Temple Pilots to continue on, to evolve, and to do what we do… make music! We look forward to seeing you.
Love,
Robert, Eric, Dean

Stone Temple Pilots have been searching for a singer for a few months now. Highly Suspect singer Johnny Stevens tweeted he was approached about being the new  STP frontman by guitarist Dean DeLeo back in August of 2015, but he declined.

While Scott Weiland hadn't been in the band for two years, many remained hopeful that the iconic singer would reunite with the Stone Temple Pilots for a third time. Any hope fell by the wayside on Dec. 3 when Weiland was found dead in his tour bus, which was caused by an overdose of cocaine, ecstasy and alcohol.
