Jared Leto Teases His Possible Involvement in ‘Gotham City Sirens’

The spotlight in the DC Extended Universe is squarely on women right now. Wonder Woman is still tying moviegoers in knots; just one more good weekend will make it the second biggest DCEU movie in the U.S., and it could pass Batman v Superman for the top spot not long after. Princess Diana will get back in the spotlight in Justice League this fall, and last summer was all about Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn stealing scenes from Will Smith and the rest of the Suicide Squad. Basically DC sisters are doing it for themselves.

DC Executive Says the Company Is Now Focused on Making ‘Fun’ Movies

With the right audience, darkness definitely sells. Hell, Universal is about to star a whole “Dark Universe.” Clearly, some folks do want grit and grimness and dudes screaming at each other and being angry and miserable. To each his own.

How Well Do You Know ‘Wonder Woman’?

Unless you’re living in a fallout shelter, you know that Wonder Woman hits theaters this weekend, starring Gal Gadot as DC Comics’ Goddess of Truth. But did you know that a Wonder Woman movie has been in development since at least 1996, when Ghostbusters producer Ivan Reitman was attached to the movie? Joss Whedon spent a few years working on a Wonder Woman screenplay as well, and over the years actors like Angelina Jolie, Megan Fox, and Catherine Zeta-Jones were all rumored for the title role before Gadot won it for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. That’s just one of the wonderful facts featured in the latest episode of You Think You Know Movies!

Early Reviews Call ‘Wonder Woman’ the Best DC Universe Movie Yet

So far the reviews of the DC Extended Universe movies have been ... uh, what’s the opposite of good? Bad. They’ve been bad. The first three movies — Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Suicide Squad — have an average Rotten Tomatoes score of 36. That is bad. The opposite of good. For sure.

Feast Your Eyes on Gotham City and Metropolis From Warner Bros.’ New Amusement Park

If I learned anything about Abu Dhabi from watching the entirety of Sex and the City 2 while sitting in a tattoo parlor waiting room (which actually happened and is not a joke), it’s that the United Arab Emirates city is a mecca of wealth. The oil-rich nation has concentrated much of its affluence in its capital, and accordingly, the area has exploded with development in recent years. Skyscrapers have cropped up like so many dandelions, massive tourist resorts now dot the coastline, and high-end boutique shopping caters to such fashionable visitors as Carrie Bradshaw and her pals. And while Abu Dhabi’s latest attraction won’t invite as many Dolce & Gabbana puns as one might like, it will delight comic book fans worldwide.

DC Animated Universe Producer Leaves the Door Open for More R-Rated Movies

When it comes to the DC film adaptations, there are two truths we hold to be self-evident. On the one hand, the live-action movies have  —  at least to this point  —  been fairly underwhelming, whiffing on the elements of Batman and Superman we find endearing in favor of a gloomy music video vibe that leaves a bad taste in our mouth. That being said, there’s no denying that Warner Bros. Animation has something special going on with its superhero movies. Most of those films run the gamut from solid to great; we ranked them all last summer and weren’t shy that their animation department has given their live-action counterparts a run for their money.

Now that Arrow has confirmed one of its most enduring players will be back for Season 6 full-time, it’s worth wondering whether the main cast is untouchable. DC’s Geoff Johns Says Another TV Series Will Be Announced Soon

The CW has enough superheroes for one lifetime, between Supergirl, The Flash, Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow, to say nothing of DC outliers like FOX’s Gotham. ‘Arrow’ Boss Clears Up ‘Suicide Squad’ Character Embargo

Arrow fans have come to grips with the idea that certain DC heavy-hitters will likely never make the leap to The CW’s DC shows, but that divide became exceptionally confusing with the shuffling off of Suicide Squad characters in preparation for this summer’s film. Now, not only is a prominent Squad-mate headed back to Arrow, but producers explain how they might be able to feature the characters going forward.
