Last weekend in my neighborhood I saw multiple families standing in their front yards taking pictures with kids that were all dressed up and heading out to prom. You just see these kids looking so happy and you just hope they play it safe.
A 90-year-old building in Flint, that has been used as a school for the majority of that time, is currently being demolished. St. Michael's was a catholic school for half it's life and a school of choice the rest of the time in Flint.
I remember being blown away when a teacher friend of mine told me they had to buy their own classroom supplies because that was not included in the schools budget. This woman enlisted the help of the community, instead.
