As we reported a few days ago, Tool, A Perfect Circle and Puscifer singer Maynard James Keenan has signed a deal with the Phoenix New Times to write a bi-weekly column for the newspaper. Now, Keenan has jumped into his role as a gonzo journalist, as the Phoenix New Times has published the first textual offering from the prolific creator.
Maynard James Keenan (Tool, A Perfect Circle, Puscifer) was recently the subject of a CBS news piece. Instead of focusing on Keenan’s music, the topic was one that the frontman has been passionate about for a long time — his winemaking career.
Although it’s been nearly six years since the release of Tool‘s last album, drummer Danny Carey says that the wait is almost over. In a new interview, Carey says the band plans to enter the studio this June and talks about how the new songs are shaping up thus far.
As the frontman for prominent avant garde rock acts Tool, A Perfect Circle, and Puscifer — Maynard James Keenan knows a thing or two about originality. In a new interview the reclusive vocalist says that music piracy is stifling creativity in the industry.
Miss Tool? So do we. Until they finally hit us with the long awaited follow-up to '10,000 Days,' we will have to make due by watching this (surprisingly good quality) fan-shot video of their recent performance in Reno, Nevada.
One of the albums we're looking forward to the most in 2012 is the fifth studio album from the masters of art metal -- Tool. The band has been writing the new material for some time now, leaving everyone curious about whether or not the highly anticipated follow-up to '10,000 Days' will surface in the new year.
Tool may have pulled a fast one on us with a cryptic message in their November newsletter that had many sites crying wolf, or "new album" as it were, but the latest string of tour dates the band announced seem to be totally legit.
Remember Tool? That really cool band that writes long, weird, riffed out songs. That Maynard guy from A Perfect Circle was their singer...they were awesome! Last week Tool guitarist Adam Jones made a rare appearance at WWE SummerSlam of all places. Watch him jam 'The Star Spangled Banner' here.
One of the weirdest "supergroups" has taken shape with CCCP, it's comprised of three drummers and a bassist. Tool's Danny Carey along with Primus bassist Les Claypool, have joined Police drummer Stewart Copeland and Rush stickman Neil Peart in CCCP. You can check out the resulting "song" that was conceived between the quartet: 'Count Drumula'.
In the days leading up to Rage Against the Machine's L.A. Rising show, the band has been posting a series of 'Guerilla Videos' to promote the event. The latest video features Rage guitarist Tom Morello talking about the band's origins and their competition in those early days: a band named Tool.
Maynard James Keenan is one of the hardest working singers in rock. Not only does he handle vocal duties for prog-metal giants Tool, but also alt-rockers A Perfect Circle, and his outlet for every other musical genre he wants to tackle; Puscifer.
