Texas heavy metal band the Sword are about to release their fourth full-length album, ‘Apocryphon,’ on Oct. 22, but the group is also set to promote another passion in their lives — hot sauce.

Texans don’t mess around when it comes to their food, so when the Sword decided to create their own hot sauce, they kept it to a single batch and chose not to mass produce their scalding concoction at first. The band kept the distribution of the sauce limited to a contest, when they only gave away a total of 11 bottles of their ‘Tears of Fire’ hot sauce to lucky winners.

About a year-and-a-half after the hot sauce contest, the Sword have announced that ‘Tears of Fire’ will now be available to the public. The sauce will be released online through TearsofJoySauces.com on Sept. 4.

The day before the sauce is unleashed upon anxious tongues, the Sword will be featured on the popular traveling food show ‘Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations.’ The show was filmed during this year’s SXSW music festival and will showcase the Sword grabbing a drink with Bourdain, before testing out the hot sauce on fish tacos, fried catfish and oysters.

The creator of the sauce, Brian Rush, recently spoke about ‘Tears of Fire’ in a press release:

They wanted something hot, but with a good flavor. I already make a really hot red habanero sauce (August in Austin), so it was just a matter of taking that over the top.  I added the infamous Ghost Chile, the hottest pepper in the world along with some extra spice to give it another dimension of zing.  This is an other-worldly sauce with both flavor and heat, named after a killer song for one of the best bands Austin has to offer.

The Sword will be embarking on a U.S. tour before the Oct. 22 release of ‘Apocryphon,’ with the dates set to be unveiled on Sept. 5.
