It certainly is a fun period for fans of the First Amendment. We recently had Dave Mustaine sharing his theories about President Obama “staging” the recent mass shootings to approve anti-gun legislation, only to see Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx rip into the Megadeth vocalist over his comments. Now, it looks like we’re getting a good old battle between Rage Against the Machine‘s Tom Morello and All That Remains‘ Philip Labonte over Morello’s recent commentary on Vice Presidential hopeful Paul Ryan.

To recap, Morello recently stated in an Op-Ed piece for Rolling Stone that while Ryan confessed that Rage Against the Machine was his favorite band, the sentiment was one that was returned. He explained, “Paul Ryan’s love of Rage Against the Machine is amusing, because he is the embodiment of the machine that our music has been raging against for two decades.”

Morello then proceeded to rip into the politician stating, “I wonder what Ryan’s favorite Rage song is? Is it the one where we condemn the genocide of Native Americans? The one lambasting American imperialism? Our cover of ‘F— the Police’? Or is it the one where call on the people to seize the means of production? So many excellent choices to jam out to at Young Republican meetings!”

While that commentary went unaddressed for a few days, All That Remains vocalist Phil Labonte is now weighing in. Using his Twitter account, the vocalist stated, “Tom Morello is a communist and a fool. He’s also had the wool pulled over his eyes by the system.”

The singer then addressed some of his fans by stating that while he may disagree with a Democrat, it doesn’t mean he’s agreeing with Republicans. Eventually the discussion evolved into a conversation with guitarist Doc Coyle, in which he added about Morello, “I’m not saying he’s dumb. I’m saying he’s a fool for the statist perspective that our government is good when a Democrat is in office.”

Your move, Mr. Morello!
