Looks like sex doesn’t always sell.

Jeanette Ellis is a 52-year-old woman from Gaffney, SC who probably doesn't have much of a future in sales. That’s because police arrested her for going door-to-door trying to sell porn. On VHS. Way to be creepy and behind the times all in one (money) shot.

Ellis claims she was merely trying to make a few bucks by selling the tapes, which she had found in a box on her street. Judging by what you can find on trash day, we get the feeling that a timeshare in this neighborhood won't set you back too many zeroes in your bank account.

Ellis said she watched some of the tapes and – light bulb over her head – thought, “Hey, even though it isn’t 1988 and nobody owns a VCR anymore, there’s gotta be a market for this." So, she put on some comfy shoes, mustered up whatever Avon lady/Girl Scout skills she has and headed out to meet her sales quota like a champ.

Ellis was hoping to get $5 for each tape, but her dreams of striking it rich were squashed when one homeowner called the cops.

You may also not be surprised to learn that Elllis -- who was charged with not having a sales permit -- has a history of run-ins with the law that includes drug and prostitution charges.

It’s not clear if she sold any of the tapes, which are now being held by cops as evidence. Yeah, sure; we have lots of "evidence." We have a whole hard drive full of "evidence."
