Seven Genesee County students have been charged for making threats at various schools, with six more students currently being investigated and haven't had any charges filed against them just yet.

Each student will be charged as a juvenile for making online threats with counts as a felony. After the Oxford shooting that took place last week, everyone in Michigan is on edge and these kids picked the worst time ever to try and play games.

Prosector David Leyton said some of the students face additional charges including the use of a computer to commit a crime, a 20-year felony, and intentional threat to commit an act of violence against a school, school employees or students, a misdemeanor.

if convicted, those charged could face 20-years in prison, the prosecutor's office tells Mid-Michigan NOW they would be lodged in a juvenile detention center up until age 21, since the charge is as a juvenile.

I'll never understand the mindset of teenagers. In a time of healing the worst in people come out online in a copycat form. Just mentioning the Oxford incident in a negative way is bad enough but to go as far as making threats online after this happened is so demoralizing.

Prosecutor David Leyton says they could have up to 20 students lined up to get hit with charges by the end of the week. I feel like this case has a fire lit underneath it due to the recent tragedy that took the lives of four students. The court is going to make an example outta these kids and I for one don't have an opinion on the outcome of this one. Even if the threats are BS or credible, each one should be taken very seriously, and going forward kids need to know and FEEL the consequences of their actions.
