On Aug. 15, Avenged Sevenfold posted a recap video of the European festival sets that they played earlier this year. The clip features interview footage with the members of the band commenting on their current state. “We’re just about in a state of pure bliss," says guitarist Synyster Gates. "We’re damn close to getting to exactly where we want to be." No reference was made of their recently canceled U.S. tour.

Perhaps what is most interesting about the clip, however, is that the last 17 seconds appears to contain a teaser of the band's new song they wrote for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 - and almost no one noticed. At around 3:57 into the video, the screen cuts to the Black Ops 4 logo and an ominous, previously unheard riff eases its way into the soundscape before drums kick in and then it abruptly ends without warning. The song is not identified, beyond the Black Ops logo. Even most fans on the band's Facebook post promoting the video didn't seem to catch it, although the highest-rated YouTube comments express excitement about the new song.

The band announced they were working on a song for the video game in May. Bassist  Johnny Christ said they had written it and were in the middle of the recording process at that time. He claimed the track is "a little bit of a departure from what I think our fans would expect."

Avenged previously wrote a song for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, titled "Carry On."  An official release date has yet to be revealed, but fans are expecting it to drop any day in the near future. You can listen to the roughly 16-second teaser below. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will be released on October 12, 2018.
