Batman & Conan! Has a nice ring to it, doesn't it? Unfortunately, we may be waiting a long while before TV funnyman Conan O'Brien slinks into a costume and joins the Caped Crusader on a crime-fighting adventure, but we won't have to wait long to see him immersed in the Batman universe. Conan has joined the voice cast of Warner Bros./DC Entertainment's upcoming animated feature 'Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 2'. So who will he be playing?

TV Guide is reporting that O'Brien will lend his distinctive voice to Dave Endocrine, a late-night talk show host who interviews the Joker after his release from Arkham Asylum. It's worth mentioning that Endocrine is a clear parody/homage to David Letterman - at least in Frank Miller's 'The Dark Knight Returns'. In the graphic novel, the Joker's appearance on The Dave Endocrine Show ends, well, memorably.

Here's an O'Brien quote on the matter:

I've got a great affection for animation. I've always been interested in drawing, and I grew up on the Warner Bros. cartoons — which is where I think I learned a lot of my comedy. I think I got a lot of my comedic timing from the Road Runner and Bugs Bunny cartoons."

Seems like a perfect match, although there was a teeny, tiny part of us was sort of hoping O'Brien had suddenly been cast as The Joker himself. (No disrespect meant, Michael Emerson.) Oh the damage he and the Masturbating Bear could inflict on Gotham...

O'Brien is added to a voice cast that includes Peter Weller, Michael Emerson, Mark Valley, Ariel Winter, David Selby and Michael McKean.

'Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 2' comes out in early 2013 on DVD, Blu-ray, on demand and for download.
