Early this morning on Detroit's east side a 25-year-old police officer was shot in the head when a gunman opened fire on their squad cars.

According to WDIV, a 43-year-old man standing outside a home with a weapon. He started firing shots at the police squad cars and ended up shooting the officer who was still inside his squad car. He was shot two times. No other officers were shot.

The officer is in critical condition and the shooter was taken into custody after police threw tear gas into the home.

I feel so bad for the police officer, he's young, just started on the force a couple years ago and has a 9-month-old baby at home.
