On Wednesday morning, Sarah Wood who lives in Bedford, Michigan was on her way to work when she said she heard what sounded like crying coming from the side of the road.

When she pulled over on East Avenue N near Morgan Road and got out of her car she pulled out a flashlight and found something that was unbelievable.

Inside the garbage bag was a small German Shepherd puppy struggling to breathe.

Not sure what to do, she reached out to a local animal rescue for help.

All Species Kinship, which helped by taking in the little pup, told Wood TV 8 that he was badly neglected and had signs of long-term mistreatment, like open wounds and urine scalding.

Sarah Wood is already an animal lover with 2 dogs, 3 cats and some chickens at home.

She's hopeful that the puppy can make a full recover and that she can adopt him.

After her incredible act of kindness I hope she gets her wish.
