Will The Weinermobile Crash Effect This Week’s Apperances in Grand Rapids?

If you have social media or watch the news, you've probably already seen that the Oscar Meyer Weinermobile took a tumble yesterday after crashing on Northbound I-294 near Oak Brook just outside of Chicago. The infamous hotdog shaped car collided with a Hyundai sedan and flipped on its side, blocking traffic and catching stares for around an hour on Monday afternoon.

As an avid fan of the weirdest car in America, I immediately remembered that it has several scheduled appearances in Grand Rapids this week, starting today through Thursday. Since Chicago is so close by, I instantly worried that this Weinermobile was the one headed our way.

But, based on the direction it was traveling, the Weinermobile was likely headed somewhere else, or just based in Chicago. According to Oscar Meyer, there are six weinermobiles that travel the country at any given time.

So thankfully - in this case, this Weinermobile wasn't likely the one that is supposed to make an appearance in Grand Rapids today. Since it was headed northbound yesterday in Chicago, there is a likely chance it was headed from Missouri or another location they were at over the weekend.

According to the Weinermobile tracker, this week's appearances are scheduled to happen still, so thankfully - our Weinermobile appearance wasn't the mini one, and we're good to have some fun with the 'hotdoggers' this week. So don't panic- have a hot dog and enjoy, knowing everyone was okay after this weird Weinermobile accident.
