Michigan Drivers Are Largely Terrified of Exit 47B – Here’s Why
For almost every trip you make around Michigan, you give very little thought to the exits you're using to navigate the state's highways. There is one exit however in Detroit that every driver needs to pay extra attention to.
That exit is 47B on I-75. It's the exit to the international bridge to Canada.

There are different experiences on approach to this bridge depending how you're travelling on I-75. Coming northbound, exit 47B offers just one choice, the Bridge to Canada. The exit is marked with the Candian flag - a feature perhaps unique to Michigan in the entirety of the US interstate system. A stark yellow banner denotes there is no re-entry to the USA taking this exit.

Driving southbound on I-75 Exit 47B offers travellers the chance to go either on the bridge of no return or to Vernor Highway. So a driver intending to stay in Detroit, continue on Vernor Hwy, and not cross into Canda has to be very careful on the exit lane they choose.
It's later on the exit ramp that the paths to the bridge and Vernor Hwy split - with helpful flags for guidance.
There's one other approach to the bridge where there's a choice to make. From the Frontage Road alongside I-75 at Grand Boulevard directs drivers straight ahead to the bridge and a right turn to stay in Detroit on Fort Street.
So should a driver find themselves in this area of southeast Detroit, here's what they need to look out for - entering Canada one need's the proper travel documents to cross the border and return. Also, Michigan may have more liberal firearms and cannabis possession laws than Canada. That could mean plenty of trouble if you take an untended exit ramp.
