Michigan Travelers Have a New Direct Train Travel Option to Florida
Planning a trip to Florida? You're almost certainly ether planning to fly or drive. There hasn't been a direct connection from the Midwest to Florida. Amtrak has planned a new route, the Floridian, between Chicago and Maimi to begin in November of 2024.
The route passes each Amtrak station that runs along the 'Lake Shore Limited' line that runs across the Michigan state line in Indiana and Ohio.

Or it's a quick trip across the state line to South Bend, Elkhart, Waterloo (north of Fort Wayne) in Indiana or Toledo, Ohio as each of those stations is along the Floridian route. From there the train passes though Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Washington and services Florida cities like Jacksonville, Orlando, Kissimmee, Tampa, West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale and Miami.
The full trip from Chicago to Miami is a 47 hour journey with one train leaving daily from each terminal point. One way, the trip is 2076 miles. So pack a bag and think about a new way to escape to the Sunshine State.
