Parsley Recall In Michigan Issued Highest Consumer Risk Warning

According to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA), hundreds of bulk parsley cases have been voluntarily recalled due to potential Salmonella contamination. Salmonella, a bacterium commonly linked to foodborne illnesses, can cause serious—sometimes life-threatening—infections. The FDA has now classified the recall as Class I, its most serious category. This suggests that exposure to the product could “cause serious adverse health consequences or death.”

Pacific International Marketing announced the recall of 474 cases of bulk Italian parsley distributed to wholesalers in 8 states, including Michigan. The FDA reported that the product, which was shipped to wholesalers between September 22 and September 25, was likely no longer available to consumers unless “the product is frozen.” Identifying factors, which can be found on the bags and the zip-tie labels, include:

  • UPC Codes: 40695 80125, 40695 80120
  • PLU: #4901
  • Lot Number: 25SAFPRIS56

Consumers should discard the product or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. No illnesses associated with this batch have been reported. Questions can be directed to the company’s hotline at 831-759-8301 during business hours, or by emailing customerservice@pim4u.com.
