Abandoned Michigan Water Park: Closed for Almost 40 Years
WARNING: Under no circumstances should you enter this property. By doing so you risk bodily harm and/or prosecution for trespassing on private property.
Here is one of the coolest abandoned parks in Michigan.
Out of respect for the property owner, I can't reveal where it is.....
This place thrived in the 1980s, and travelers who went by were treated to a sight of a large water slide that peeked out over the bushes. Not just slides, but the park had bumper boats, go-karts, mini-golf, roller skating and a snack bar.
The park opened in 1985 as an answer to the lack of places a family – or anyone – could go to have fun.
One of the main attractions was a bar attached to a wire that swings down and drops you into the water.
Plans to expand were never made a reality...and what plans they were! They included baseball diamonds, batting cages, a BMX track, campgrounds, dry super slide, kids waterslide, motel, restaurant with lounge & live entertainment, tractor pull pit, and a water speed slide. It would have been a summertime mecca.
Unfortunately, it closed down in 1987.....after being open for just two years. There were dark rumors circulating as to why they closed, but more than likely it was due to high costs.
Everything in the park is now hidden by bushes, grass, trees, and weeds – now completely out of sight by passersby. The amusements are still there, crumbling and riddled with foliage.
Those who recall the place still have faint hopes that it – or another fun park – will somehow return. But after forty years, don't count on it.
