Just about two miles northeast from the Four Winds Casino in New Buffalo sits this little deserted diner: “The Pub” Restaurant, near the intersection of Wilson Road and M-239.

The Pub was an unassuming little place, back off the road; nothing spectacular, nothing gaudy. Looking at its location, however, it made me wonder why it was so secluded, bordering the woods and a couple of miles south of the city limits. It kind of reminds me of the type of place one would go for a bite or a few drinks to get away from the prying eyes of friends, family, and neighbors...but hey, that's just my own observation.

Looking at the inside of this establishment, it looks like it shouldn't be a problem fixing it up and making it into something nice once again. There is some damage, some litter, but not as much as some of the other abandoned places we've seen. The outside looks more damaged in spots than the inside...and moss growing through concrete.

A couple of miles away from the Indiana border, New Buffalo in Berrien County was named by Captain Wessel Whitaker in 1834 after his home in Buffalo, New York. Whitaker and three other men became the first settlers in 1835, the village became incorporated in 1836, and the first post office began in 1837.

I'll go into more detail in another article about the town – but for now, check out inside and outside photos of the abandoned “Pub” restaurant in the gallery below!
