Fiancée’s Account vs. Authorities

Authorities say Acker’s fiancée called the facility after he failed to return home from his shift. However, Stephanie Jaszcz told WDIV-TV that she did not place a call but instead stood outside the Allen Park facility for roughly three hours before she was able to get help.

Jaszcz described Acker as a kind, selfless man who had served nine years in the U.S. Air Force.

“He was just one of those kind of people whose sweetness and thoughtfulness weren’t just traits, they were just his way of life. He was very generous. It wasn’t always just gifts and gestures. It was always his time and his heart. He made everyone feel valid and seen,” she said.

The investigation into Acker’s death is ongoing.
